Unemployment Compensation Benefits for Federal Employees in Massachusetts

Federal employees who are not working due to the shutdown furlough may be eligible for Unemployment Benefits in Massachusetts (also called UI benefits). However, it is important to note that federal employees will be responsible to repay the UI benefits if Congress approves retroactive pay for the furlough period.

In Massachusetts, unemployment benefits can be requested in a few different ways:

  • Online: by visiting www.mass.gov/dua
  • By Phone: The number you call depends on your area code. Click here to find out the number to call.
  • In Person: At the Boston walk-in center located at 19 Staniford Street, Boston, MA 02114, Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
